ABOUT SCULPTURE AND METAL WORKS

• Sculptures are one of the main types of visual and fine arts wherein the artist makes three dimensional objects made out of wood, plastic, or metal.

• Metalworking is a process of forming and shaping different kinds of metals and is used in the field of art to create three dimensional objects.

• Carving sculptures started as early as 32,000 B.C and metalworking started in the early 8700 B.C and became famous on 19th century when many smiths became more skilled in their craft

• There are many different techniques in metalworking such as carving, casting, enamelling, engraving, filigree, gliding, stamping, studs, and turning.

• Four main techniques used in sculpture are carving, modelling, casting, and polishing.

• Beside Eduardo Mutuc, there are many famous Filipino sculptors and metalworkers such as Ramon Orlina, Julie Lluch, Michael Cacnio, and Agnes Arellano.
